Anne Frank

Anne Frank's diary is a famous book. Who was Anne Frank? Anne was born in Germany in 1929. Her family was Jewish. They lived in Germany when Adolf Hitler was the leader. Hitler did not like Jewish people. People who followed Hitler were called Nazis. Anne and her family moved to the Netherlands when Anne was four years old. They moved because of the way that Hitler was treating Jews.


In 1942, the Nazis came to the Netherlands. Anne and her family were no longer safe. They went into hiding. They hid in a secret part of an office building that was owned by Anne's father. While they were hiding, Anne kept a diary. She wrote about life in hiding. She wrote about the war. She wrote about her feelings. Anne's family hid with four other people. It was not easy to live hidden away from the rest of the world. They could not have done it alone. Six trusted friends brought them food and other supplies while they were hiding.
