At Last, a Corn Dog

Last year the Warren family went to the Minnesota State Fair. Some people think that more people go to the Minnesota State Fair than any other fair. It lasts for twelve days. There are all kinds of things to see. It would be hard to imagine how many kinds of food are there. Most of the food is served on sticks.

For many days before the fair, the family talked about their favorite fair foods.

Mrs. Warren wanted spaghetti on a stick!

Mr. Warren wanted Pig Lickers, chocolate-covered bacon on a stick!

Jeannie said she wanted a deep-fried candy bar or two.

Olson could not choose. "What I really want is cotton candy, cheese curds, milk shakes, a corn dog and a foot-long hot dog, alligator on a stick, a deep-fried candy bar, hotdish on a stick, spaghetti on a stick, and both chocolate-covered and maple glazed Pig Lickers!"

Olson's father looked sick.

Jeannie looked a bit sick, too. "Olson," she said, "don't be silly. If you eat all that stuff you will get so sick!"
