Authors Write

National Authors' Day

Reading Comprehension for November 1

November 1 is National Authors' Day. An author is a writer who has had something published. An author may write books, articles for magazines or newspapers, or even poetry or scripts for plays. An author writes so that others may read!

How do you feel about being an author? Do you have a story you would like to tell? Do you have knowledge that you would like to share? There is power in writing. Good writing can stir the emotions of the readers, making them feel joy, sorrow, or anger. They may feel hope or hopelessness. Have any authors affected you in those ways?

"I admire anybody who has the guts to write anything at all," said E. B. White, the author of Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little. What does that imply about writing?
