Bill and Ted's First Week on the Job, Part 2

Ted made sure he set his alarm. "I don't want to be late again," he told himself.

This time he met Bill on the bus. Bill was carrying his employee manual with him. Ted made fun of him. "Did you memorize the whole thing?" he asked.

"There's some important information in here, Ted," Bill said. "You should really look it over."

"Like what?" Ted asked.

Bill told him there was a section on employee benefits. He said they could buy health insurance at a low cost. He also said they got five sick days per year. After one year they could take a vacation and get paid for it. "I think this is going to be a good company to work for," he told Ted.

"Sounds sweet," Ted said. "And the work doesn't seem too hard. If I can keep Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones from getting mad at me."

"Just follow the company policies that are in the employee handbook, and you'll do fine," Bill told him.

"So tell me more about all these rules and regulations in that big book," Ted said.

Bill told him that they had to be at work at 8:00 on the dot. They had to punch in and get right to work. Every morning and afternoon they got a ten-minute break. Lunch hour was from 12:00 to 1:00 everyday. And quitting time was 5:00 sharp. They had to punch their timecards every time they started or stopped working.

Bill also said that they couldn't receive personal calls unless it was an emergency. They had to wear a clean uniform everyday. If they were sick, they had to call Mr. Smith no later than 7:00 AM.

"That's a lot to remember," Ted said. "Good thing I have you to keep me straight."
