What is Boxing Day? Boxing Day is celebrated on the 26th of December every year in Great Britain and much of the British Empire. You might wonder how on earth it got its name. There are two ideas about this.


It has nothing to do with boxing up the garbage after Christmas, or even returning presents that are not wanted. It's not about a boxing match either. Boxing Day has a much different history than that.
