Bullfrogs

Bullfrogs are remarkable! No, they don't wear fancy clothes to get us to notice them. They look quite dull, in fact. They have green or brown backs. Their bellies are yellowish white. Why are they remarkable? Well, size is their secret! Bullfrogs can grow to be eight inches long. They can weigh more than one pound. American bullfrogs are the largest frogs in North America. Females are usually larger than males. Bullfrogs have large mouths.


What do bullfrogs eat? Just about anything that can fit in their mouths! They eat insects, minnows (small fish), and spiders. Large bullfrogs even eat mice or birds! Some bullfrogs have even been known to eat other frogs, turtles, and snakes.
