How does someone become an American citizen? There are only two ways. If a person was born in the United States, then she is an American citizen. If not, then she becomes a citizen by law. Naturalization is the process that a person goes through to become a citizen of a foreign country. To become an American citizen a person must be eighteen years old and have lived in the country for at least five years. A person can also become a citizen by marrying an American citizen and living in the U.S. An application for citizenship needs to be completed. A person must live in the U.S. at all times after turning in the application. A person must have "good moral character." .....
