Dad in Class

"Dad, you do remember that you promised to come to my class tomorrow, right?" Jenny asked as her dad helped her into bed.

"I remember, but I am not sure I can be there," said Dad. "I wanted to talk to you about that. My boss said that it might be really busy tomorrow, and he may not be able to let me off."

"But Dad, Labor Day is next week. Our teacher has had all the students invite one of their parents to come and tell us about the jobs that they do. That way we can get an idea of what we might like to do someday. Tomorrow is the day that was set aside for you. Some of the kids' parents are bankers, teachers, or auto mechanics. They've already come. John's dad was there yesterday, and he is a fireman. We also had a nurse and a carpenter. I thought carpentry looked like fun. I really hope you can come," said Jenny breathlessly.
