Dinner with Fred

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Fred Bell. You are watching the very first episode of Dinner with Fred. On tonight's show, I will teach you how to set your table! Isn't that just too exciting? Oh, my! We will work with cups, glasses, plates, spoons, and just so many more things from my very own dining room!"

Fred stopped talking. The commercials came on. There were three car commercials. There were two ads for snacks. Finally, the show started again.

"Welcome back. Are you ready to get started? Ah, yes, we are having a dinner party tonight. I am going to use my best white tablecloth."

Fred put the tablecloth on the table. He took out a ruler. He measured the part that hung down on each side. It was even.

"Ah, now, isn't that beautiful? It's white as snow and even on all four sides! Next, we will put flowers in the middle of the table."

Fred picked up some yellow roses. He picked up some white daisies. The daisies had yellow centers. He put the flowers in a vase. He put some pretty green leaves in the vase, too.

"I love yellow and white, don't you? The roses smell so good, too! Now, pay attention, please. I will put plates, cups, and bowls on the table. Let's use the white ones with yellow roses on them, shall we?"

Fred hummed to himself. He put a plate and a saucer in front of each chair. Then he put a cup on the saucer. Then he put a bowl on the plate. He stopped and looked at the table.

"Oh, dear, it is time for a word from our sponsors. We will finish the table in just a few minutes."
