Going Batty

Sandy loved to be outdoors in the evening. The sun was going down, it was starting to get dark, and the bats were coming out.


Sandy watched them flit through the air like small, dark shadows. Their acrobatic twists and turns left her dizzy just watching them.


None of Sandy's friends like bats. They think bats are creepy, weird flying mice. They think that bats might bite them and make them sick. They think bats might get tangled in their hair. Her friends think Sandy is just plain batty for liking bats!


Sandy sighed thinking about it. She'd tried telling her friends the truth, but they didn't want to hear it. Some of the girls liked to pretend to be scared. Sandy thought that was silly.
