Grand Opening!

It finally opened! The new children's museum in town was having its grand opening weekend. Admission would be just $2 per person. Barbara got there early with her grandchildren. There was already a long line waiting for the 9:00 A.M. opening.

Brian and Lisa were so excited. "Grandma, can we go in yet?" they asked, jumping around her.

"Not quite yet. It will open in about five minutes. The people ahead of us get in first."

The children and Grandma waited for the doors to open. It seemed to take forever! Finally, workers pulled open the doors. The line began to move. Barbara was hoping that the capacity wouldn't be reached before she and the kids got to the door. She had no reason to worry, though; they made it in fine. Now Brian and Lisa were tugging on her arm, asking where they could go first.

"Let's start on the bottom floor," Barbara said. Most people were stopping at the first few displays on the main floor. Maybe the bottom floor would be less crowded.

"Okay, Grandma," Brian said. "Let's go!"

The three got into a huge elevator and pressed the "1" button. The ride on the elevator was fun in itself. Then the doors opened wide to a whole floor of water-based activities.

"Wow!" Lisa said, running to the first display.

Lisa and Brian played at the water exhibits. They put on plastic smocks. They splashed with pails and cups. They crawled in a network of tunnels under waterfalls. Grandma snapped pictures. She laughed as they played.
