Harry Truman was our thirty-third president. He became president when Franklin Roosevelt died. Truman was Roosevelt's third vice president during his four terms in office. Truman was born in Missouri in 1884. He was a farmer for twelve years. He served in World War I. He was elected to the Senate in 1934. Truman had to make some tough decisions as president. He decided to drop atomic bombs on Japan. The day after the second bomb was dropped, Japan asked for peace. World War II was over. Truman was there when the United Nations formed.
