How Do 3D Glasses Work?
The world that we live in is three dimensional. Take a book, for example. It has a length. It has a width. It has a thickness, or depth. The book is three dimensional. We can see a book lying on the floor. We can see that the book is not a part of the floor. If we could only see the book in two dimensions, we could not see that the book sits on top of the floor. The book would appear flat and even with the surface of the floor.
Even in a three dimensional world, we see a lot of things in only two dimensions. The images that we see on televisions, computers, and in movie theaters are two dimensional. They are flat against the screen.
Three dimensional (3D) glasses can make watching a movie seem like a real experience. They can make characters appear to jump out from the screen. They make it feel like you are a part of the movie! How do they work?
