The common hippopotamus lives deep in the grasslands of Africa. But don't let the name fool you; there is nothing common about this massive mammal. The common hippo has a huge head, lips that are two feet wide, and teeny tiny ears. It also has short legs and a very thick neck. Most hippos are between ten and fifteen feet long and can weigh up to 7,000 pounds. So, what does an animal that is this big eat? Plants, but a lot of them!
