Ichthyosaurs

All animals that lived during the time of dinosaurs weren't dinosaurs. Dinosaurs walked on land. There were reptiles living in the sea. ("Saur" means lizard, a type of reptile.) They weren't fish. Some were reptiles called ichthyosaurs (ICK-thee-oh-sores). Ichthyosaur means "fish lizard." The name fits, because they were shaped like fish, but they were reptiles. Just like with dinosaurs, there were many different kinds of ichthyosaurs, too. Some looked like dolphins. Most ichthyosaurs were six to fifteen feet long. They had long snouts with teeth.
