Keep the Holidays Stress-Free!

National Stress-Free Holiday Month

Reading Comprehension for December 18

Becky looked at the board and began to write in her notebook:

Assignment: Make a list of ten ways to reduce holiday stress

Due date: December 18

This counts as a test grade.

"I know how we can reduce stress," she mumbled to herself. "They can quit giving us homework assignments!"

The bell rang. Becky scooped up her notebook in the midst of all the commotion. She slipped out of the desk, which was quickly growing too tight for her as she grew taller. She stuffed her notebook into an already overflowing backpack and hoisted it onto her shoulder.

"What are you going to write about?" asked her friend Janice.

"Oh, I don't know," Becky replied with a sigh. "Right now, it feels like just one more thing to do. I'll see you later."

Becky dragged her feet as she walked to her locker. After grabbing her coat, she shifted the backpack one more time. She simply draped the coat over her arm and headed outside.

She piled into the car. Mom asked her, "What's up with you?"

"What do you mean?"

"You look like you just lost your best friend."

"No. Just another assignment to do before Christmas."

"Really?" her mom asked with concern. "What do you have to do?"
