No More Winter Blues Party

Hoodie Hoo Day

Reading Comprehension for February 20

Sherry skipped into the kitchen and dropped her book bag on the floor, singing, "We're having a party! We're having a party!"

"A party?" her mom asked.

"Uh huh, we're having a beach party at school next week."

Puzzled, her mom raised her eyebrows. "A beach party? In February!"

"Yes! We get to bring in beach balls, summer hats, and shorts," said Sherry. "They are even going to bring in sand to cover part of the gym floor so we can pretend we're at the beach."

"Is there some special reason for this?" Mom asked, wiping her hands on a towel.

"Because February 20 is Hoodie Hoo Day," Sherry giggled. "At noon, the whole school is going to have a beach party, and we all get to yell 'Hoodie Hoo' to chase away the winter blues."

"Hoodie Hoo Day? Are you making this up?" Mom teased.

Sherry frowned. "No, really, Mom."
