Out of This World Field Trip

Ms. Frizzle's class was learning about space. They learned about the planets. They learned about space travel. They learned about the moon. Ms. Frizzle said the best way to learn about space was to go there. The class climbed into the Magic School Bus. Off they went!

The Magic School Bus is fiction. Fiction is a made-up story. The author uses his imagination. Ms. Frizzle is not a real teacher. In the Magic School Bus series, the class visits many places. They have traveled to see dinosaurs. They have gone inside volcanoes. They have even traveled inside the human body. Many teachers wish they could take their classes to those places.

On August 27, 1984, President Ronald Reagan told the U.S. about a special project. It was called the Teacher in Space Project. It was created by NASA. NASA wanted Americans to learn more about the space program. More than 11,000 teachers wanted to go into space. A group of judges decided on ten people. Those ten people went to the Johnson Space Center. It is in Texas.
