Over the Falls

What is a waterfall? It is falling water. The water may be a part of a river. The water usually flows over rocks. The rocks are high. The water pools at the bottom. Many people think that waterfalls are beautiful.


Niagara Falls is a famous waterfall. Three falls come together. Part of Niagara Falls is in the United States. It is called the American Falls. Part of it is in Canada. It is called the Horseshoe Falls. The other section is smaller. It is called the Bridal Veil Falls. Experts say that Niagara Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America.


The Falls formed from glaciers. A glacier is a large piece of ice. It moves slowly across land. It shapes the land. When the glacier melts, it creates bodies of water. Niagara Falls is not a high waterfall. It is a wide waterfall.
