Panda Pandemonium

Pandemonium Day

Reading Comprehension for July 14

Ian looked over the books on the bookshelf. "Mom!" he called, frustrated.

"I'm in the office!" Mom called back.

Ian went to the office.

"Is the show over?" Mom asked.

"Yeah. Do we have any books on pandas?" he asked, looking up at the bookshelves in the office.

"Hmm, pandas," Mom thought aloud. "Not in here. Did you look on the bookshelf in the living room?"

"Yes, but I didn't see anything."

Mom rose from her chair to go look. At the bookshelf, she looked over the titles and found one on the third shelf. "Here's one about animals of Asia," she said, pulling the book off the shelf and handing it to Ian. "Here's another about pandas and koalas. Are you sure you looked here?" she said with a grin.

Ian took the second book. "I thought I did," Ian said humbly. "Thanks, Mom."

"What sparked this sudden interest in pandas?" asked Mom.

Ian sat down on the couch. "Tomorrow, 'Animals on Earth' is doing a show about Panda Mona," said Ian, opening the first book and looking at the pictures. "The announcer said, 'Don't miss the next episode. Where Panda Mona breaks out at the zoo!'"

Mom looked thoughtful, and then she started to giggle.
