Peregrine Falcons

The peregrine falcon has a name that fits the bird very well. Peregrine means "wanderer." Peregrine falcons do roam. In one year they may travel 15,000 miles. A peregrine falcon may leave its home on the tundra in the far north and spend the winter in South America.

Peregrine falcons are found all over the world. They live on every continent except Antarctica. They live in all kinds of climates and habitats. You can find them in a city, in the desert, in a forest, in the tropics, or in a wetlands area.
