Raccoons

Raccoons look like they're ready for Halloween. They have a mask of black fur around their black eyes. A circle of white fur around the black mask makes it stand out even more. Raccoons also have bushy tails with black fur rings. They have black paws. Their front paws look almost like tiny little hands. Raccoons use their front paws to skillfully handle food. They can grab things, hold things, and pull things apart. At times it looks as if raccoons may even be washing their food.

Raccoons love water and are very good swimmers. They are also very good climbers. They sometimes make their homes in hollowed-out trees. Raccoons live mainly in wooded areas near water. They sometimes wander into towns. You might spot a raccoon at night digging in a garden or rummaging through a garbage can.
