Rain, Rain

It was raining hard. Everything was wet and muddy. People were asking if was ever going to stop raining. School classes were cancelled because of so much rain.

Timothy was happy. Today there would be no school. Maybe he could walk down his street in the rain. Maybe his mother would let him jump in some mud puddles.

"Mom," Timothy asked, "do you think I could play in the rain and mud today?" His voice was excited. Timothy wanted so much to be outside on this rainy day.

His mother said, "You know I will let you go outside, but you have to put on some old clothes."
