Scavenging Fun

"Did you get a final total yet, Nicole?" asked Mom.

"I think so," said Nicole as she counted the checked-off names on her list. "There are eleven coming, not counting me."

"Good," said Mom. "That means we can have six teams of two or four teams of three people. That is a nice-sized group."

"How many things should be put on the list?" asked Nicole.

"I think twenty-five to thirty items should be plenty. Some should be really easy to find, but a few should be more difficult. Challenging games are the most fun," said Mom. "I think I should make up the list so no one can accuse you of cheating."

"I can hardly wait until school is out Friday afternoon," said Nicole.

"Having a scavenger hunt party will be a good way to start the summer," said Mom.

Friday finally came. It was just a half day of school, so the partygoers arrived about mid afternoon. Nicole's friends were assembled into groups of three, and then they were given a list of articles to find.

"Some of these are too tough," said Sue. "How are we supposed to find a goose feather?"
