What is the same about Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, and Frosted Flakes? They are all cereals. They are eaten for breakfast. They are also made by Kellogg's. Cereal is a favorite breakfast food. September is National Breakfast Month. It reminds people of how important breakfast is.


Will Keith Kellogg was born on April 7, 1860. He and his brother, John, invented a flaked cereal. They used the sweetest part of the corn. People loved it. The flakes tasted light. W.K. Kellogg wanted his cereal to be different. He wanted people to know it was one-of-a-kind. He put his signature on every box.


W.K. Kellogg had ideas about how to let people know about his new cereal. He gave away free samples. He thought that if people tried it, then they would keep buying it. He had a contest for children. It was an art contest. The winner's art was used in advertising for the cereal.
