Sound and Music
People make music with many things. Let's think of some things that make music. Pianos. Drums. Guitars. Cymbals. Violins. I'm sure you can think of many more. Did you know that all musical instruments make sounds in the same way? They all make sounds by making vibrations.
Sound is a kind of energy. When an object vibrates, sound waves are made. The waves move through air. The sound waves move into your ears. Sound waves make your eardrums vibrate, too. Then you can hear the sound.
Some musical instruments vibrate when they are hit. A drum is hit with a stick or a hand. It vibrates and makes sound waves move through the air. The sound waves move into our ears. We hear the sound.
