Sunglasses Hunt

Julia was really frustrated. Why did this annoying thing have to happen now? "Where are my sunglasses?" she muttered, half to herself and half to anyone who would listen.

Julia and her family were leaving soon for a vacation at the beach. They had rented a beach house at Consuelo's Cove. It was on a secluded barrier island off the coast of their state. They had looked forward to this trip for a very long time. Julia had carefully packed everything - or so she had thought. She had just been double-checking her bag when she'd discovered that her sunglasses - her treasured new magenta sunglasses - were missing.

"Calm down," her older brother Michael said, passing by her room. "You are always in such a tizzy!"

"I am not! I suppose you think you behave as a perfect and proper gentleman all the time. Leave me alone!" Julia was about to cry.

Michael began to feel sympathy for his sister and returned to the door of her room. "What's the matter?" he asked.

"I am just trying to find my sunglasses!" Julia cried. "Danny gave them to me for my birthday!"

Danny was Julia's best friend. Julia had had her eye on a certain pair of sunglasses, and Danny had surprised her with them about six weeks ago on her birthday. Michael thought that Julia had a crush on Danny. Julia had always denied it. He thought about teasing her yet again but decided that, this time at least, he would be a compassionate brother. He walked into her room and gently touched her shoulder.

"Stop for a minute. Where do you remember having them last?" Michael asked. He sat on the edge of the bed. Julia was still frantically digging things out of her bag.
