Sweat!

Have you ever wondered what causes sweat? Almost nobody likes it. It gets in your eyes, and it makes your clothes wet. After a while, it makes you feel all dirty. What is this stuff, anyway, and why do we need it?

Your body works best when its temperature is about 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. If it gets hotter than that, your brain doesn't like it. Your brain wants to stay cool and comfortable. The part of the brain that controls temperature sends a message to your body telling it to sweat and cool things off!

Sweat glands in your skin start making sweat. Sweat is mostly water with tiny amounts of other things like salts, sugar, ammonia, and urea. Ammonia and urea are the waste that is left over when your body breaks down protein.
