Taking Care of the Trash

Taking care of the trash sounds like an easy job. But if you aren't careful with it, the trash can cause a lot of problems around your house. It is very important that you don't do certain things with your trash.

One of the things that you shouldn't do is take a bag of trash outside and just set it down by your house. That bag of garbage is an invitation to wild animals.

Mice and rats will come to eat garbage. Many cities have problems with these animals because people don't take care of their garbage the right way. There is leftover food in the garbage that rodents just love to eat.

Dogs can also cause problems with bags of trash that have been left outside. A dog can rip open a bag of trash, spilling the contents all over the ground. It might find a few items to eat inside, but you will be left with mess of smelly items to clean up.

Raccoons are very smart animals. They can quickly get into trash bags, but they also know how to tip trash cans over. If the top comes off easily, the raccoons will get into garbage cans every night to get at the food inside.
