That's "Salad-a" Fun

"What are you making?" Donnie asked his mom.

"I'm putting together a salad," she answered. "Do you want to help?"

"Sure."

"Go wash your hands first," Mom said.

Donnie went to the sink and pressed down on the soap dispenser. A foamy dollop of anti-bacterial soap landed in his outstretched palm. He rubbed his hands together and rinsed them in warm water.

"Okay, I'm ready." Donnie dried his hands on a red checked kitchen towel.

"Take these lettuce leaves and rinse them while I cut up the tomato."

Donnie returned to the sink, this time with some mixed greens in a colander. He let cool water run over them for a couple of minutes, and he swished the greens around so they would all be evenly rinsed.

In the meantime, Mom cut up a fresh tomato and shredded some carrots.

Donnie brought back the greens to the kitchen island. "What's next?"

"We will mix the greens with the tomatoes, cucumbers, and shredded carrots," Mom explained.

"What else will we add?"

"I was thinking about some chopped apple," Mom said. "What do you think?"
