On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor. Their two hour attack left more than two thousand people dead and destroyed many planes and battleships. One battleship, the U.S.S. Arizona, and its crew suffered terribly during the raid. Bombs dropped on the ship caused it to sink and killed 1,177 sailors.
