Tiger Underdogs!

"We're never going to beat this team," Tommy thought to himself as he trotted out to the mound. While he loved playing baseball, he didn't enjoy being clobbered by the best team in the league. His team -- the Tigers -- was pretty new to the league, while the Bears had been around for a very long time. The Bears had won the last three championships. Many in the town (other than the Bears' fans) were actually getting a little tired of them winning all the time.

Somehow, the Tigers had made it to a playoff game. Certain games had just fallen into line for them. Tommy just wished that their first game wasn't against the best team in the league! But he remembered what Coach Baldwin had just told them.

"Kids, we are here to do our best. It doesn't matter what our opponent is here to do. We start out equally on the scoreboard. Just play one hit, one defensive play, one run at a time."

With renewed determination, Tommy stepped up onto the mound. He put aside any thoughts about being outmatched by the other team.

Tommy quickly got into a rhythm, striking out the first two batters. The crowd started cheering. The momentum grew, and the third batter grounded out. It was a great start.
