Understanding Your Bank Statement

Josh had opened his checking account a little over a month ago. He was getting comfortable writing checks. He had been good at keeping track of his deposits and withdrawals. He had even used his debit card a few times.

Josh had finally gotten his bank statement in the mail. Kate, who worked in the office at his bank, had been helping him with his new checking account. She had promised to help him read and understand his bank statement. He arrived at the bank with his statement and his check register.

"Hello, Josh," Kate said. "It's nice to see you again."

"It's nice to see you, too," Josh answered. "I am grateful for all the help you've given me so far."

"It's my pleasure," Kate said. "What have we got today?"

"My bank statement came today. You had told me to bring it in so that you could go over it with me. Here it is," Josh said as he handed the envelope to Kate.

"Okay, let's get started," Kate said.

Kate began to go over each part of the bank statement. Of course, it told the name and address of the bank. It gave Josh's name and address. His account number was listed, also.
