Vitamins and Minerals

Your body does many things. You can walk, you can jump, you can run, and you can move things. You can breathe; you can eat, taste, hear, see, and touch. Even when you're sleeping, your body is still active. Your brain is working, your heart is beating, and you are breathing.

To do all those things, your body needs food. Your body takes important vitamins and minerals from food. It needs those vitamins and minerals for everything it does.

Vitamins are organic. They come from living things like plants and animals. Minerals are inorganic. They come from soil and water. Plants absorb minerals. You get minerals from eating plants. There are many kinds of vitamins and minerals.
