Wall Scribbles

Have you ever scribbled on a wall with crayons? Most children try it between the ages of two and five. Their masterpieces might make their mothers cry. Some adults still draw on walls. Their scribbles are called graffiti.

Graffiti is usually on buildings. It is in public places. Most people think that graffiti is a crime. This is because it is done without permission. Other people think that graffiti is pretty. They think it is art.

Graffiti has been around for a long time. Long ago, people marked on stone monuments in Greece. They also did it in ancient Rome. People did graffiti in America, too. On the Oregon Trail, pioneers wrote their names on a rock. The rock was called Signature Rock. A signature is when someone writes his or her name.
