William McKinley

William McKinley was the twenty-fifth president. He was born in Ohio in 1843. He went to college and then taught school. The Civil War broke out. He joined as a private in the Union Army. He served his country well. After the war was over, he studied law. McKinley opened a law office in Ohio. He ran for Congress at age 34. He served for fourteen years in the House of Representatives. In 1891, he became governor of Ohio. He served two terms. McKinley was elected president in 1896. He was well liked. As president, McKinley got the United States .....
