Zizou Corder: A Mother-Daughter Team

Zizou Corder is the author listed on the front of the Lionboy book series. Zizou Corder isn't a real person, though. It is the name made up by the mother and daughter who created the story. Their real names are Louisa Young and Isabel Adomakoa Young. They thought their names would take up too much space on the front of a book. So, they decided to write their books under a pseudonym. The inspiration for the name came from their pet lizard, named Zizu.

So how did this mother-daughter writing team come to be? It all began with mother Louisa. Louisa Young is a free spirit who has done a lot of interesting things. She has been a singer. She has been a street performer. She has worked as a waitress and also as a motorcycle messenger. One thing that she has always been, though, is a writer. She has written newspaper articles and magazine stories. She has also written five books for adults. At home, Louisa loved telling bedtime stories to her daughter Isabel. She liked to make up her own stories and wait for Isabel's reaction. As Isabel got older, she began to appreciate her mom's stories even more. One day, she asked her mom to write a book based on their bedtime stories. Louisa was hesitant. She wasn't sure it was a good idea. Isabel was persistent. She didn't give up. She kept encouraging her mom and started giving her ideas.
