Utahraptor

Fossils of Utahraptor (YOO-tah-RAP-tore) were found in 1991 in the state of Utah. Its name means "Utah robber" or "Utah's predator." It lived about 125 million years ago during the Cretaceous period.


Utahraptor was twenty feet long and stood 9 feet tall. It weighed about as much as a grizzly bear. It was the largest of the raptors that have been found. It is thought that Utahraptor may have had feathers, like its relative Microraptor.


Utahraptor had strong jaws with many sharp teeth. However, the teeth of this carnivorous dinosaur weren't serrated like steak knives. It seems that its claws were its main .....
