"Larry Bird Ball"

1 What is a superstar? A superstar is a person. He may be a sports person. She may be a movie star. A superstar is popular. People like to watch him or her. He is a champion. Basketball experts say that Larry Bird is a superstar.
2 Larry Bird was born in 1956. He was born in a small town in Indiana. There were about 2,000 people living in the town. He was from a family of five boys and one girl. His family often had money problems. His parents always put their children first. They made sure that their children's needs were met before anything else.
3 Indiana is famous for its basketball. Larry's brothers taught him how to play. By the time Larry got to high school, he was a star on the court. Larry would shoot 200 free throws before school every day. Most of the town came to the games. They wanted to see Larry play. The Birds could not afford a car. The fans made sure that Larry's parents got to the games. Larry was the school's all-time high scorer.
