1 Kate is three years old. She had friends at her house to play. The girls wanted to play dress-up. Two of the girls wanted to be princesses. Kate wanted to be a queen. Tommy came into the room. He is Kate's brother. He told Kate that she was too little to be a queen. Kate did not agree. Kate told him that it did not matter how old she is.
2 Kate was right. In the past, it did not matter how old a person was. Mary, Queen of Scots, became queen at an early age. Mary was born on December 8, 1542. Six days later, her father died. Mary became queen of Scotland.
3 She was best known as being the queen of Scotland. But she was in line to be the queen of England, Ireland, and France, too. All are countries in Europe.
