Javed in Pakistan: A Problem with Illiteracy

There's a young student named Javed in Pakistan. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a country in Asia with over 175 million people. It became an independent country on August 14, 1947. This Asian country is about two times the size of California.
Javed and the other children in Pakistan do not have easy lives. They face many challenges. Many of the children are poor and need better healthcare. Many don't eat enough, and 30% are malnourished because they can't get enough healthy foods. Many live on less than $2 a day. Only about half the children can even get clean water to drink. Some lack basic, safe household sanitation. However, perhaps the biggest problem Javed and other children face is schooling.
