Let's Be Honest!
By Beth Beutler
"Okay," said Tamara, the self-appointed president of our new club. "Let's set some rules."
"Here we go," whispered Malcolm quietly. "Miss Take Charge is going to lay down the law."
I stifled a giggle. Malcolm didn't much care for Tamara at times.
"Silence, please!" Tamara shouted as she banged her gavel on the makeshift table.
I folded my hands and straightened up. "Yes, ma'am," I responded, and then everyone laughed.
Tamara rolled her eyes. "People, people, people. We must have order. Now, I suggest that the most important rule is to be honest always."
"Why do we need that rule?" Josh called out.
"Because honesty is the best policy," Tamara replied. I wished I could wipe that know-it-all look off her face.
"The second rule is to be on time to all meetings. The third would be that all non-officers will rotate bringing snacks to our meetings. The president must approve all snacks ahead of time."
Everyone groaned. Where did Tamara come up with this stuff?
Bruce stood up. "I'd like to make a comment," he said.
