Dad's in a Submarine

"I miss my dad," Chelsea said to her friend Brittany. The girls had spent the night at Chelsea's house and were just waking up after going to sleep very late.

Brittany looked at her friend with sympathy. She knew how Chelsea felt. Her friend's father had shipped out on a submarine a month ago. He was serving in the Navy, patrolling some shoreline in the Middle East. He would be gone for at least two more months, maybe more. Brittany's father had been gone for 12 months with the Army the last time he was deployed. She was so glad that he had returned home safely.

She put her arm around her friend's shoulder. "It will go by faster than you know it."

Chelsea wiped a tear from her eye. "I know. I'm sorry. I know your dad was gone longer. I should be thankful."
