Invertebrates Worksheets

About 95 percent of all animals are invertebrates – animals without backbones. Invertebrate animals fly in the air, crawl in the soil, walk on the land, and inhabit oceans or freshwater lakes and streams. Some invertebrates have bodies that are so simple, they do not even have organs like hearts or lungs. These animals, the sponges, spend their lives rooted in one place on the ocean floor. They depend on moving water to bring them food and give them the oxygen they need to live. Other invertebrates, like butterflies, snails, and spiders, are more familiar to us and may even be some of our favorite animals. Explore our invertebrate unit to learn more about the many different kinds of invertebrate animals that live all around the world.
