Everything Contains a Story

By Jody Williams
1     Ever since he could remember, Robin had been told what was expected of him as son of his father. Like other sons of noble family, he would be sent away from his mother and father to live in the household of another knight, where he would learn all the ways of knighthood. He would learn how to be of service to his liege lord, how to be courteous and gentle and, at the same time, strong of heart.~ The Door in the Wall by Marguerite de Angeli

2     Before writing The Door in the Wall, Marguerite de Angeli became fascinated with medieval England. She wanted to learn as much as she could. She traveled to England. She spent two weeks learning all about that period of time. While there, she also visited a special bookshop. It was once owned by John Newbery. Marguerite used what she learned to write the Newbery Award-winning novel.

3     Marguerite de Angeli was born on March 14, 1889. She was born in Michigan. She was one of six children. Her father was a photographer and illustrator. When she was about three years old, her family moved to Pennsylvania.
