The Right Dog

Iditarod Sled Dog Race

Reading Comprehension for March 1

Chase pulled the toboggan down from its place in the garage. He carried it outside and dropped it down in the freshly fallen snow. He spied the black Lab sitting on the front steps of the house. Her tail began to wag slowly when she saw him.

"Tamzin!" he called. "Come here."

The dog stood up, shook herself, and ambled slowly over to him. Chase scratched her shoulder with his mittened hand.

"You're a good dog, Tam," he said. "I think you might make a nice sled dog. You're big enough to pull a sled, aren't you?"
